December 9, 2022, marks International Anti-Corruption Day (IACD). This day has been observed annually since the passage of the United Nations Convention against Corruption on 31 October 2003 in raising public awareness for anti-corruption, – and Hafnia is proud to be an advocate of this cause.
Anti-Corruption is always a topic of utmost importance at Hafnia based on its crucial link between peace, security, and development. Tackling this crime is the right and responsibility of everyone, and as a leading figure in the maritime industry, we are proud to use our reach and standing in the market to take a stance and role in overcoming the negative impact of this crime.
Hafnia operates with the highest levels of integrity and principles. Through our leadership and strong management commitment to ESG, we have established several initiatives to stand against bribery and corruption, including policies, processes and intensive trainings which guides our interactions with suppliers, customers, partners in our industry and other stakeholders.
Measures have been put in place via these policies and processes to ensure we comply with all applicable laws relating to anti bribery and corruption in the jurisdictions in which we operate, in particular with respect to the UK Bribery Act of 2010.
All Hafnia employees onshore and at sea are provided vigorous training related to ethical behavior and fair dealing in relation to incidences which compromise our standards. In cooperation with suppliers, customers, member of our industry and other stakeholders, our team are obliged to conduct themselves with the highest standards of integrity.
Giving or receiving of any gift, monetary amount, entertainment of hospitality where the intention is to influence a business decision is strictly prohibited, with checks implemented for the recording of such incidents as per company guidelines.
Hafnia is additionally a member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), – a network with a vision of zero corruption in the maritime industry. MACN and its members promote strong corporate practices when it comes to the fight against tackling bribes, facilitation payments and other forms of corruption. MACN collaborates with key stakeholders, including governments and international organizations such as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), to identify and mitigate the root causes of corruption in the industry.
