Hafnia is pleased to announce that Head of Crewing Shivas Kapoor, GM has been elected as a member of the International Maritime Employers Council (IMEC) Recruitment and Training Committee. Shivas will serve a two year in this role.
Shivas Kapoor is currently also part of the IMEC Executive Committee (as a director), which is a position he has held since May 2022 for a two-year term.
IMEC (the International Maritime Employers Council) is the only international employer union in shipping which is dedicated to maritime industrial relations. IMEC counts over 260 shipping companies (e.g Maersk, Teekay, Scorpio, Vships, Thome, Ango Eastern, OSM, Synergy etc) as its members.
IMEC’s main objective is to negotiate Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) with the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) and local unions across the globe. These negotiations are related to the topics of crew wages and conditions of employment for seafarers. Besides Collective Bargaining Agreements, IMEC also plays an important role in recruitment and the training and development of seafarers, including in relation to cadet programs.¨
