Shivas Kapoor, GM and Head of Crewing at Hafnia, has been conferred an Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa) by AMET University, Chennai, in recognition of his contributions to the global shipping industry and to maritime workforce development. The award will be presented at the University’s Annual Convocation Ceremony on 2 July 2026.
AMET University is the first maritime university in India and is recognized by the Ministry of Education, the University Grants Commission, the All India Council for Technical Education, and the Director General of Shipping. It is also ranked among the top maritime universities globally in the PIMET ranking by the International Association of Maritime Universities.
The recognition reflects Shivas’ long-standing work in crewing, recruitment, and training across the maritime sector, including his role as Chairman of the IMEC Recruitment and Training Committee, where he supports industry-wide collaboration on training standards and the development of future-ready seafarers.
