We are proud to announce that Shivas Kapoor, GM (Head of Crewing) has been appointed as the Chairman-elect of the Recruitment and Training Committee. Shivas will officially assume his duties following the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) in May.
Shivas Kapoor, recently re-elected as a Director on the IMEC Executive Committee until May 2026, has been a dedicated member of the IMEC Recruitment and Training Committee since 2018. With over 20 years of maritime experience, his impressive career includes leadership roles at Maersk, BW Fleet Management, and Hafnia. His expertise spans crewing, recruitment, and training—making him exceptionally well-suited to lead the committee into a new chapter of innovation and impact.

As the only international employers union in shipping, IMEC represents over 300 member companies. The organization’s primary focus includes negotiating Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) with the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) and local unions globally, setting standards for crew wages and working conditions. Beyond CBA negotiations, IMEC has been at the forefront of initiatives such as cadet & training programs as well as innovative people-power solutions.
Shivas Kapoor’s leadership comes at a pivotal moment for IMEC, as the organization continues to shape the future of maritime recruitment and training while addressing the critical challenges of a rapidly evolving industry.
