Sanjay Mavinkurve, GM, Head of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality at Hafnia was invited to speak on the Singapore Shipowners Associations (SSA) Educational online webinar on the topic of Managing Publications Onboard Ships. This webinar took place on the 11th of April and included esteemed guests from Anglo Eastern Ship Management and DanCompliance.
The SSA Educational webinars are hosted by the Educational Sub-Committee, who plan and organize seminars on maritime related issues to its YEG Committee (under 45 maritime professional members). During the webinar, Sanjay presented his reflections on Ship managers experience with digitization. He was joined by Captain Amit Nauhwar from Anglo Eastern Ship Management. During the webinar, Sanjay covered topics across on monitoring regulatory changes and managing publications onboard and how ship managers can resolve various challenges via digital systems. The webinar was successfully attended by over 55 participants.
Sanjay additionally spoke at a Port State Control Seminar on the 4th of April, hosted by DNV. The seminar attracted participation from the Singapore Maritime Port Authority, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, the United States Coast Guard and representatives of the Panama State Flag. During the panel, which also included speakers from Thome and Hoegh Autoliners, participants discussed the pain points of Ship Owners and Managers post Covid19, the increased detentions that were being faced, how they could be handled better, and further support that classification societies like DNV can provide to support across these points.
