Ray Lee Tong Chok, Security Manager (Marine, CSO) at Hafnia, was recently featured in an interview with Australia’s national broadcaster, ABC News, on 21 September 2025. The interview was part of ABC’s coverage on countering sea robberies in the Malacca Strait and Phillip Channel, which are critical trade routes through which nearly two-thirds of Australia’s exports are transported.
During the discussion, Ray recounted an incident highlighted in the recent ReCAAP ISC Half-Year Report 2025, where Hafnia crew members raised the alarm to warn another vessel of a potential robbery attempt. The crew’s careful actions supported the safety of fellow seafarers and highlighted the value of collaboration and shared awareness in addressing maritime security challenges.
Following the interview, the session was published as a video and an article, both reaching a wide audience across Australia and beyond. The coverage provided insights into practical measures taken by seafarers and reinforced the vital role of the shipping community in supporting safe and secure international waters.
