Ray Lee Tong Chok, Security Manager (Marine, CSO) at Hafnia, participated as a featured speaker at the recent Dialogue Session hosted by the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia – Information Sharing Centre (ReCAAP ISC), held with the shipping industry on 10 July 2025 at the York Hotel in Singapore. The session focused on maritime security.
During the session, Ray presented an overview of Hafnia’s shipboard protection measures, and highlighting commendable actions of the crew of Hafnia Cougar, who demonstrated an exceptional commitment to maritime security through the adoption of the “Neighborhood Watch” concept. The crew of Hafnia Cougar went above and beyond their duties, maintaining vigilant lookout not just for their own vessel, but for others navigating the same waters. Their alertness and timely action helped prevent a potential boarding incident by the perpetrators, reinforcing the vital role seafarers play in deterring maritime crime.
Following the event, Vijay D. Chafekar, Executive Director of ReCAAP ISC, issued a formal letter of appreciation to Hafnia, recognizing Hafnia’s contribution to regional maritime security, as well as ongoing efforts to support collaboration and information sharing across the shipping community.
The session provided a valuable platform for knowledge-sharing among regional maritime stakeholders.
