Kasper Sørensen, Head of Marine Fuels Procurement (East) at Seascale Energy recently participated in a panel discussion titled “The Shipping Dialogue” at the Marine Fuel 360 Conference 2025, held in Singapore.
Kasper shared his perspectives alongside Dinesh Kumar Balraj (A.P. Moller – Maersk), Capt. X.X. Zhang (Venture Ship Management), and François-Xavier Accard (CMA CGM International Shipping).
The session explored how the shipping industry can stay the course amid growing geopolitical, regulatory, and commercial pressures on its decarbonization journey. The conversation also examined the practical challenges of managing regulatory uncertainty and navigating the fast-changing marine fuels landscape.
Kasper highlighted bunker procurement strategies in new fuel markets, highlighting how the transition from traditional fuels to biofuels, methanol, and ammonia demands a fundamental rethink of procurement models. He also discussed how emerging bunker hubs can position themselves during this industry “reset,” underlining the importance of early infrastructure investment and aligning with clear regulatory signals to attract anchor demand.
The panel concluded with a candid exchange on how consolidation among energy majors could reshape pricing and access for smaller players, with Kasper advocating for open frameworks and shared data to keep competition healthy as the market evolves.
