Jesper Kristiansen Leads 2025 Annual Lecture at Regional Maritime University, Ghana

The Regional Maritime University (RMU) in Ghana,recently  hosted the 2025 Annual Hafnia Lecture marking the third in the series since the partnership between RMU and Hafnia, was established in 2023.

 

This year’s event featured Jesper Kristiansen, GM, Projects and Newbuildings at Hafnia, as the guest lecturer. His sessions drew strong participation and engagement from students, lecturers, and maritime professionals.

 

The four-day lecture, held at the Africa Unity Auditorium, attracted over 260 students and lecturersDue to high demand and attendance, the programme was restructured into two cohorts  one for Nautical Science and Maritime Studies, and the other for Marine Engineering and Electrical & Electronic departments.

 

Through dynamic and interactive sessions, Jesper covered a wide range of maritime topics including leadership and psychological safety, data logging and condition-based maintenance, AI and Big Data integration, incident prevention, tanker operations, project management, newbuildings, industrial automation in control systems, Environment, Energy Efficiency (in cooperation with Decarbonizing).and decarbonization strategies. He also discussed future technologies shaping the industry such as wind-assisted propulsion, carbon capture, future fuels, and shore power connections (AMP)  encouraging participants to embrace innovation and sustainability in their careers.

 

The lectures reflect Hafnia’s continued commitment to supporting education and skills development in the maritime sector.

 

The 2025 Annual Hafnia Lecture once again demonstrated the value of Hafnia’s partnership with RMU in nurturing the next generation of maritime leaders – with a strong objective of strengthening ties between industry and academia, promoting dialogue on innovation, safety, and sustainability within the maritime ecosystem.

 

Hafnia and RMU, both together remain committed to advancing shared goals of training excellence, professional growth, and environmental stewardship in the African continent.
