On the 26th of October, Hafnia attended the Singapore Registry Forum, in which the Hafnia Languedoc and the Hafnia Loire received the “Green Ship” Award.
The Singapore Maritime Port Authority introduced this award in 2021, where it is awarded to Singapore flagged vessels that are: (i.) reduce their carbon intensity to a level that exceeds the IMO Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase 3 requirements by at least 10% through the adoption of energy efficient technologies and/or (ii.) use engines that are able to run on low- or zero-carbon fuels.
The Green Ship Award is handed out every year to vessels that exceed environmental regulatory standards set by the International Maritime Organization. Ships who are awarded this recognition benefit from a 100% reduction in initial registration fees, receive a 100% rebate in annual tonnage tax and reduced port dues in Singapore. Furthermore, the vessel is issued with a certificate of recognition and will have its name published on the MPA’s website, serving to enhance the vessel’s attractiveness to charterers.
