Hafnia Receives European D&I Award for Maritime Culture Lab

Hafnia has been recognized with the Diversity & Inclusion Honours in Maritime 2026, receiving the award in the category “Best Initiative for Respect & Wellbeing at Sea” for its Hafnia Culture Lab initiative.

The award was presented on the 12 May, 2026 at a ceremony in Brussels (collected by Mikkel Boesen, VP, Technical) during the High-Level Conference of the Cyprus EU Presidency, – where Hafnia was recognized for its commitment to fostering a more inclusive and respectful culture at sea.

The winning initiative, The Hafnia Maritime Culture Lab was supported by The University of Southern Denmark and The Danish Maritime Fund. The research project focused on seven Hafnia vessels with crews comprising at least 50% women, examining how a more balanced gender composition can influence onboard culture and wellbeing. The second edition of the Diversity & Inclusion Honours in Maritime is organized by the Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) Cyprus under the endorsement of the Cyprus EU Presidency, the European Commission’s Women in Transport EU Platform, and WISTA International.
