Hafnia is pleased to announce that the last of the 8 sister vessels – Hafnia Mikala, has successfully completed her 1st special surveys and dry docking repairs at Tersan Shipyard in Turkey on the 29th of July 2022.
Built in the Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) in China. Hafnia Mikala was delivered in 2017 and was named after Søren Steenberg Jensen’s eldest daughter. She is the last of the sister vessels, which were originally painted red on delivery. Hafnia Mikala has now been painted within Hafnia’s new color paint scheme of red and blue. The repairs at Tersan Shipyard went smoothly and, in a time, efficient manner. Repairs and maintenance included the ship’s hull being fully blasted, and the underwater hull coated with silicone paint to ensure hull smoothness for fuel efficiency. The vessel completed all planned repairs including the painting of the hull within two weeks in her dry-docking session – which is typically conducted on a tanker ship every 5 years.
Departing from the Tersan Shipyard at the end of July, Hafnia Mikala is registered in the port of Valetta, under the flag of Malta. She is presently proceeding to Algeciras, Spain, after loading cargo at Aliaga, Turkey.
Hafnia Mikala is a medium-range (MR) tanker, with a Summer Dead Weight Tonnage (DWT) of 49999 tons, measuring 183.2 m (length) by 32.28 m (Breadth extreme)
Hafnia thanks the Tersan Shipyard for their collaboration and hospitable hosting in dry dock sessions, of not only Hafnia Mikala, – but additionally Hafnia Ane, Hafnia Henriette, Hafnia Kirsten and Hafnia Lotte in the last 2 years.
Hafnia also thanks Thome Group, Damir, Josip, and all those onboard Hafnia Mikala for ensuring safe and timely delivery back into the water!
