Hafnia is in the process of deploying Stevie, an enterprise conversational AI assistant developed by Complexio, the AI joint venture formed by Hafnia and Símbolo.
Alongside Hafnia, – Marfin Management, C Transport Maritime (CTM), BW Epic Kosan, and Alassia NewShips Management are the first shipping companies to deploy Stevie in live operations, marking a milestone in the application of artificial intelligence across the shipping industry
Stevie represents the evolution of Complexio from workflow automation into operational intelligence. The product gives shipping professionals direct, natural-language access to their organization’s operational knowledge, synthesized from internal communications, systems, and documents – cited, contextual, and instantly available, without the delays of manual information gathering.
The platform consists of two core capabilities. Chat allows users to ask questions and receive structured answers grounded in their organization’s data. Signal delivers proactive daily briefings, surfacing issues that require attention before users even ask, and enabling immediate follow-up to understand what happened, why it matters, and who is impacted.
For Hafnia, where speed and decision quality across complex operations are critical, early testing has already demonstrated clear value. Currently, operators, charterers, and commercial managers routinely spend time retrieving information that exists but is fragmented across emails, systems, and documents. Stevie will address this directly by shifting from reactive search to real-time operational intelligence.
At its core is Complexio’s Context Broker and Event Knowledge Graph (EKG), a continuously updated model that maps relationships across people, counterparties, vessels, voyages, and business events. This allows the AI to reflect how the organization actually operates, rather than applying generic automation.
Initial adoption via a smaller test user group has focused on high-impact workflows, including preparing for commercial negotiations with complete counterparty histories, tracking demurrage exposure and time-bar risk, surfacing unresolved vessel issues before escalation, and generating executive briefings that prioritize what requires attention now.
Mikael Skov, CEO of Hafnia, said:
“When we formed Complexio with Símbolo, we committed to practical, long-term improvements in the way we work. Stevie is the next step in that journey – from automation to intelligence. The teams testing this are starting to see real value from it, and its deployment across Marfin, CTM, BW Epic Kosan, and Alassia proves this approach scales beyond Hafnia. We are excited to follow its progress.”
Matthew Talbot, co-CEO of Complexio, commented:
“We spent last year rethinking how to deliver value beyond workflow automation. The result was Stevie – giving people direct access to what their organisation already knows. We built an understanding of operations first: the context behind the emails, the relationships, the workflows. Then we gave people a natural way to access it. Seeing Stevie now live across Hafnia, Marfin, CTM, BW Epic Kosan, and Alassia proves that conversational intelligence, grounded in real operational data, is ready for enterprise scale.”
