Captain Suneha Gadpande (HSEQ) a planning committee member of the Sagar Mein Samman project, spoke at the Green Shipping Conclave in Mumbai, India an event focused on sustainable shipping and gender inclusion in the maritime industry.
During her speaking engagement, Suneha highlighted the mission of Sagar Mein Samman which is to empower Indian women seafarers through supportive policies and sustainable career opportunities. She also shared progressive practices from Hafnia, including maternity leave, flexible work options, re-entry support for women returning to sea, and information about Hafnia’s Culture Lab vessels with over 50% women crew.
The Sagar Mein Samman session featured distinguished guests such as IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez, India’s Minister of Ports Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, and Deputy Director General of Shipping Capt. Daniel Joseph, who engaged in meaningful dialogue on advancing women’s roles in maritime.
The IMO Secretary-General praised Hafnia’s efforts and emphasized the importance of data in tracking progress.
